Welcome to our latest Newsletter. I hope everyone is well and looking forward to our next Rotary meeting. We had a lot of fun helping at the Tough Guy, Tough Gal challenge last week, a beautiful sunny day in Wainuiomata, lots of happy and exhausted competitors and a wonderful atmosphere. If you haven't had the opportunity to help out yet, I recommend it for next year !

President's Report
And then it was June and my last month as President. Wow, the year has gone so quickly and for the most part very satisfying. While the role can be challenging at times, having a supportive Board to share the load, helped me to enjoy the role and I am extremely grateful to my Board over the last 12 months.
Next Wednesday will be my last Rotabiz meeting as President and we have a great speaker to finish my year with. A number of our members have invited several guests along to hear this address. It would be fabulous to have all our business members attend this meeting to ensure we can show our many visitors that we are a healthy, vibrant club they should consider joining.
I have representatives, (owners and general managers), from Tilley & Patton, Kraus & Naimer and Uniplas attending, and Richard has 10 clients coming along, so would love for them all to see how joining our club might be beneficial to their businesses while at the same time contributing back to the community.
Frank Phillips, our speaker from Fulcrum will present “Manufacturing Technology made easy’’. Fulcrum helps businesses find technical solutions to assist their growth. Since our Government has just announced tax breaks for businesses investing in new equipment, the timing of this presentation could not be better.
Thank you to all of you who helped our at the Tough Guy and Gal challenge last weekend. It was a beautiful day and we managed to get our quota of people along in the end. I'm sure all that attended had a great time.
I look forward to seeing a big group next Wednesday – Hope you can ALL attend.
Some of our registration team at the ready. The team distributed over 500 race numbers, drinks, muesli bars, and medals prior to the race!

Rotary: Cans for a cause 9-16 June
Rotary nationwide has been challenged to support our local foodbanks because sadly the need for them has increased astronomically. Even working families are struggling to make ends meet due to high inflation.
Packaging Products has kindly printed 20 boxes with the project logo. We need to put these in suitable locations for people to make donations of food. This would be ideal for those Rotabiz members who have a reasonable number of staff or customers on site. I will have one at Maude Legal and I’m sure many of you will be keen to help. It would also work in places like Summerset Village, so please let us have any other suggestions.
We need sites for the boxes, and a few helpers to deliver the cans to the Food Bank on 16 June. Please contact Cameron or Andy Soper.
Please also bring something to this week’s meeting, preferably from the following list:
A 10-man Royal Commission reported unanimously that New Zealand should not become a state of the new Commonwealth of Australia. In the end, the prevailing view was that New Zealanders were of superior stock to their counterparts across the Tasman and New Zealand’s trade was mostly with the United Kingdom.
May 1959:
Auckland harbour bridge opens:
New Zealand’s best-known bridge opened after four years of construction. The need for better transport links between Auckland city and the North Shore had long been the subject of inquiry and agitation
May 1964:
The Beatles' "Love Me Do" single goes to number 1 in the United States
Our next speaker is a great one, why not bring a guest to our 4th June meeting:
Next Wednesday we have speaker Frank Phillips from Fulcrum, and his presentation will appeal to anyone in the manufacturing sector. It's a great opportunity to invite a guest or business colleague to come along for breakfast and get a great insight into how technology is advancing manufacturing.
Frank is a manufacturing consultant, having worked at Rolls-Royce & BMW in the UK and Europe before moving to New Zealand in 2019.
Frank will be bringing his experience in manufacturing, shedding some light on the popular topics of Industry 4.0 and Digital Transformation.
After giving some insights on best practices and emerging trends, Frank will discuss how his business Fulcrum is doing things differently to help manufacturing across New Zealand to benefit from these technologies'
With the Government now allowing companies to depreciate 20% off the cost of new equipment upon purchase makes this a great be a time to invest in automation. I will be considering a robot at Packaging Products to gain efficiencies.
Please let Anna know if you will be inviting a guest.
Wednesday 25th June is our changeover dinner evening. A chance to celebrate outgoing President Cameron and welcome in your new president, me!
It'll be upstairs at the Speights Ale House, Jackson Street, Petone. $60 buffet dinner with fun and entertainment provided. Would love to see you there - pencil in the date NOW!.
Remember to bring some loose change along to the meeting so you can contribute if you answer a Quizlett question incorrectly :), or wish to "Buy The Box".
If you should have any interesting stories about fellow Rotarians then please pass them onto Craig so he can share them at the meeting. Email: craig@packprod.co.nz
Payment is also now available by Eftpos onsite - no excuses!
